Psoriasis: Does the evaluation for the treatment usually require evidence?
I'm not working, but they must see a dermatologist for inverse psoriasis so can only afford ~ $ 200. Does the evaluation for the treatment usually involve more tests or a doctor can prescribe something for me after the visit? – That is fine but has not responded to my question: does the evaluation for the treatment often includes the test?
To begin, psoriasis is now considered an autoimmune disorder in which the body cascade of inflammatory mediators is triggered by an unknown antigen (s). One side effects of these inflammatory agents is to make skin cells hyperproliferate. Therefore treatments are directed against the production of inflammatory agents. The inverse psoriasis, the lesions tend to be in the "sensitive" areas, so that, in general, topical agents may be milder used successfully. Agents such as Protopic ointment and Elidel cream have been used, often with good results. In these cases, I see no reason to have blood tests to do. However, if no response to topical therapy and systemic agents (pills or injections) should be carried out, then blood tests are necessary, usually to check up on the liver and blood counts.
