Antihistamines are not used to treat eczema, but are topical steroids. Hydration usually stick my eczema (for it is usually only atopic dermatitis). But when it comes to the point where it does blister and peel, I get a steroid cream from my dermatologist. The steroid cream smothers inflammation by suppression of local immune response which will stop the outbreak. Moisturizing only relieves some of the discomfort.
