How well does methotrexate for psoriasis?
I was diagnosed with psoriasis about 5 years. I have tried every treatment creams Phototherapy with biological treatments. I have recently been prescribed methotrexate and wondered how well this would work for my psoriasis. With the coming summer I would like to re-enter shorts and tank tops.
I have psoriasis for 25 years (the last five severe). Also I have psoriasis rheumatoid arthritis wrong. My rheumotologist prescribed methotrexate in combination with Enbrel. i have been taking for about two years. It worked wonders for my arthritis, so well that I said to myself, so this is like normal people easy to have it back. Before that, I have suffered so much pain every day. I did not, however, much change in the case of psoriasis. Have you tried tanning beds. You should have. Or at least your doctor should have told him about it. I've had a number of dermatologists since I have been diagnosed and have all said the same thing. The sun (tanning bed) is one of the best treatments for psoriasis (must kill dermatologists recommend tanning). For the moment, my greatest success has been tanning, natural or artificial sun. If legs are your problem area, do not be afraid to shave. I was one time when my legs covered first. Finally, I said, to hell with the fear of cutting myself, I was embarrassed to be walking around with hairy legs. Shaving also worked wonders and it does not hurt anything. While you use a good / more expensive disposable razor. Keep up with methotrexate. I've done some research of my own on it and think it works for many people, but you should ask your doctor about the use of Enbrel or Humira in combination with it. If your doctor prescribes Enbrel or Humira also ask the auto-injectors – it's quick and painless.
