
UVA radiation damages DNA in human cells of skin melanocytes and melanoma could lead to a new study has found that UVA radiation damage DNA in melanocyte cells, causing mutations that can lead to melanoma. The melanocytes, which contain a substance called melanin, which darkens the skin to protect ultraviolet rays of the sun, are more vulnerable to UV radiation than normal cells of the skin because they can not repair themselves as efficiently.
