Staph skin infection

Staph skin infection
Appropriate treatment of 6 months of age with skin infection with staph?

My son is 6 months old and has been in good health all his life so far. Yesterday we realize two large red bumps with white head in the leg. We took him to the doctor. The doctor said he would treat this as MRSA. (Not taken cultures so I do not know for sure. To our knowledge, with people being MRSA.) Your doctor just said to drain the liquid, wash the stain and apply This gave us antibiotic cream (prescription, I'm guessing you work in a MRSA) I wonder if my son should not be in some kind of oral antibiotics or is that being too harsh for a baby?

I would ask you to get a culture. If MRSA is no need to treat it like it is (though still may want to until culture results are back) and if treatment is definitely MRSA is much more aggressive than if it were another infection.
