White spots on balls
not a furry white ball with yellow spots that grow on a tree in my backyard, which is the hairy ball? bad?

is bad for the tree I cut? There are 3 or 4 of them grow on the tree of absolutely nothing to support a tall tree

No picture to see, my best guess is that it is an effrontery. There some very nice that is. In fact they are created when a small wasp (not the kind that are a nuisance to people), lays an egg in the leaf or stem of a tree. The tree responds every time a "case" around the egg, which is very different from any other tissue in the tree. And each wasp seems to invoke a different response from tree as a tree can grow different types of galls, depending on the wasp. … But to digress the bottom line is I, not a threat to your tree. Y if they are beautiful, some of them may even be considered as "decoration." My oak tree has a few "Cotton Candy Guts" (sower biliary wasp wool), and is so beautiful, I do not care at all. (Check it out:) http://farm1.static.flickr.com/49/179507653_7f3c62140e. jpg If your tree is absolutely COVERED in galls, maybe a little stress. However, a few dozen of anything. But if you do not like the look of them, can be cut, or in the case of a large tree, a rake and gather them when they fall from the tree, and throw them out. Then next year there will be less.
